Mitt Romney ends this kerfuffle by releasing his taxes for the last 10 years (his dad, George Romney, called for 12 years of taxes released for a Presidential Candidate who wasn't hiding something), and if these allegations of not paying taxes for ten years didn't ring true I think he would have already released his tax records.
If Reid's Bain source wasn't accurate I'm sure Mitt would have released his taxes on day one. Romney doesn't have a reputation of endearing many with the way he treats people, so I can see how a member of his Bain team would throw him under the bus on this.
Again, Romney isn't Entitled to be President of the United States, the American People have to hire him for that to happen, and hiding information at a job interview isn't the best approach to landing a job.
