Awash In Secret Donations, Republicans Reverse Support For Campaign Finance Disclosure
How about this idea? Corporations and Individuals can donate all the money they want to a candidate ... unlimited ... but into a blind trust, so the candidate can never know from where the contributions came.
Hear me out on this.
The Donor's contribution would be aggregated into the Blind Trust anonymously, so the Candidate would have absolutely no way of verifying who contributed to their campaign and who didn't. Conversely, the Donor would be provided no proof that they have contributed money to a Candidate's Campaign. The contributed money would be sent to an intermediary clearing house assigned to all candidates, the donor can select the candidate the funds are to be distributed to, but the candidate receives all funds in monthly lumps sums comprised of ALL donations to their campaign, eliminating the ability to identify individual donations.
The Contribution Clearing House would be maintained by the Secret Service, who will maintain the information of who contributed and to whom.
If the Candidate and the Donor are found to have any direct communication that immediately disqualifies the candidate from running for office, and prohibits the contributor from donating to any election for 10 years.
Super PAC ad buys would be prohibited.
If the quid pro quo element of campaign contributions are removed from the political process then control of the elected officials would return to The People who elect them.
