The Conservatives will promise anything to Akin to drop out. Anything. But once he steps aside, under the bus he goes. Akin has caused too much trouble for the Conservative establishment at the very wrong time, and the Republicans just want him gone.
Let's see what kind of a sucker Akin is, and if buys the empty promises his conservative "friends" are selling him.
