Wealth is not equal to excellence.
Martin is correct about the motivating force behind this mess we are experiencing ... the same Rich Right Wing Libertarians that created the John Birch Society, with its endless Communist Paranoia as it's excuse to assault civil liberties... the same Rich Right Wing Libertarians who conspired to overthrow FDR in the 1930s, because they felt there was no value in Democracy for them anymore, and the totalitarian fascism rising in Europe at that time was better suited to their need.
Let's be clear here, not all Rich are the problem. The greatest danger to our democracy comes from the inheritors of wealth, not the builders of wealth. Individuals who owe their wealth and position strictly to fortunate birth, not through personal achievement. These are the Oligarchs that threaten the United States and have the hubris to undermine our elections to serve their selfish needs. It is difficult to even consider these Rich Right Wing Libertarians Americans, for they live in Ayn Rand's world of the individual even over God. They view themselves as Gods, and will operate under this falsehood until they learn the truth of their place in the universe.
If the Rich wish to stand WITH American democracy then they are most definitely the allies of America, however, if they align themselves against American democracy there are dark days ahead.
