Scalia was rewarded with a seat on the Supreme Court for striking down the Fairness Doctrine (Bork got a shot at a seat on the Supreme Court for the same reason). Scalia has been a political operative from the start, and when things aren't going his way on issues he drops the pretense of being a thoughtful Justice and reveals himself to be what he has always been.
