How did the National GOP not come to McCotter's rescue on this? Isn't the Governor of Michigan a Republican too? There was no path available the GOP could have used to "fix" this issue? Seems very strange.

Thaddeus McCotter Out: Michigan Representative Resigning From Congress
How did the National GOP not come to McCotter's rescue on this? Isn't the Governor of Michigan a Republican too? There was no path available the GOP could have used to "fix" this issue? Seems very strange.
