Wait.

I'm sorry, I'm wrong.

CNBC was defending the soundness of Lehman Brothers right up until its collapse. CNBC didn't provide a service to its viewers at all in 2008, though it may have provided cover for institutional investors stealing out the back door with their viewer's money.

Peregrine Financial Group Files For Bankruptcy Amid Scandal

drip ... drip ... drip ... drip ...

You can frame the discussion of the economic crisis with massive infusion of cash into the corporate media, and ownership of politicians, but you can't influence the underlying dynamics of the decay.

The process of deterioration in the economic crisis, starting with the crash in 2008, has been slowed with various dramatic interventions at home and abroad, but the trajectory toward collapse hasn't changed. This is just more evidence of that fact.

Ken Bennett, Arizona Secretary Of State, Influenced By Conspiracy Peddlers On Birther Issue

The reason this Birther nonsense still has traction is because our Right Wing friends have been conditioned to live in a Faith Based reality, by the endless hours of Right Wing Media Propaganda they have ingested over the last thirty years. The reason no evidence is acceptable to Birthers is because the whole notion of the President being born in Kenya was never borne of fact. You can never defeat a faith based argument with facts ... it's like arguing about religion.

So Birthers use the ploy of demanding proof, when no proof is capable of assuaging them. In more rational times in the United States, these Birther Lunatics would have simply been laughed at and ignored, but in our upside down America they are given a platform for their foolishness and even the Secretary of State of Arizona genuflects to them.

Again, Right Wingers reach a point in every argument when they ask for facts and it is simply a device. Everything that powers their worldview is Faith Based, therefore the last thing they are interested in confronting are facts.

Mitt Romney Booed At NAACP Convention For Saying He'd Repeal Obamacare (VIDEO)

"Let'em-Eat-Cakers", like Mitt Romney, and the Range Rover Posse that flooded the Hamptons the other day, live in a craven bubble of selfishness, and believe their acts of social cruelty are enlightened, and perfectly acceptable ... when they aren't.

Ending Obamacare will send millions of Americans into bankruptcy over health issues, and even cause the death of many. These attendees at the NAACP meeting are REAL AMERICANS, not Aristocratic Jet-setters, like Mitt Romney for whom the United States of America isn't really their nation, but just an opportunity for them to further aggregate wealth and power. No one in Mitt Romney's family, or in the families of his Aristocratic Internationalist Billionaire friends will ever face the crisis that getting sick in America, and being at the mercy of the For Profit Health Care Industry resolves to being. The people at this NAACP meeting, like millions of other true Americans, know the importance of the protections written into Obamacare.

For Aristocrats like Romney, repealing Obamacare is just a cute political device, for millions and millions of real Americans such a move equals poverty and death.

Enjoy the boos, Mitt, you've earned them.

Eric Holder: Voter ID Laws Are 'Poll Taxes'

The obvious thing to do is to put a hold on all of these Voter ID laws nationwide until the issue can be settled in the court. I'm sure by January or February of 2013 this issue can be settled once and for all. Also, all of the voter purges nationwide affecting Federal Elections should be put on hold as well. All of these unilateral GOP decisions affecting Voting Rights must be adjudicated. Republican Legislators and Governors can't reinvent Constitutional Law to suit their political need, and that is what is occurring in this case quite blatantly.

Obama Calls For One-Year Extension Of Bush-Era Tax Cuts For First $250,000 Of Income

The only thing preventing Republicans from joining with President Obama and the Democrats in extending tax cuts for the Middle Class is the desire to hold the Middle Class hostage in negotiations to extend the Bush Tax Cuts for the 1%. This is the message that needs to be hammered home ... only value the Middle Class has to Republicans is as leverage for blackmail.

If President Obama were to lose the election, there would be no reason for him to sign an extension of the Bush tax cuts prior to Romney taking office and they would expire. Then Romney would have to overcome a Democrat filibuster to get anything passed. Anyway you look at it, the tax cuts for the fictitious job creators are gone.

Jonathan Krohn, Ex-Conservative Boy Wonder, Jabs GOP 'Bullies,' Explains Shift To The Left

Krohn is brilliant person, and quite perceptive. In one interview where he discussed how he got swept up in the Conservative movement he noted the proliferation of right wing media in Georgia. Being exposed to the endless drone of right wing media made him conservative. The difference for him at thirteen, was that he still had years to be exposed to other information outside of the right wing radio bubble and that caused him to modify his world view. Most Americans are not exposed to other information outside of the Right Wing propaganda they ingest, and that poses a problem. We need to be honest here, propaganda via media works. The US has used Voice of America for that very reason. If media outlets are used as propaganda delivery mechanisms the information presented will frame the worldview of the consumer, and if propaganda is distributed on a 24/7 loop, falsehoods will become reality for millions of Americans.

Jonathan Krohn is experiencing the cycle described in Plato's Allegory of the Cave. An individual who is raised viewing shadows reflected on the cave wall ... in this case Right Wing media propaganda ... who then leaves the cave and experiences a world in the light of day, will be received with derision and hostility by the inhabitants of the cave when his explanation of the outside world clashes with the accepted shadows of the cave wall, which frames the cave dwellers understanding of the world they live in.

Latest Jobs Report Underscores Unemployment Crisis

The United States has been in an undeclared Depression since the crash of 2008. Undeclared because those in American society that have the most to lose by there being a declaration of Depression, the Rich, Wall Street, and Bankers, have a bottomless pit of money at their disposal to influence both political parties as well as the Corporate Media. The problem is, controlling politics and perception will not cause the Depression to go away, only decisive action on fiscal and monetary policy will. We are currently in a state of suspended animation with the economic crisis, but looking around the world we see a slow motion disintegration of the Global Economic System. There is no good news from China, India, Japan, Brazil, the EU ... it's all a downward spiral. And since the United States has been the dominant global economy in the post WWII world, the other nation's economies are frozen in place due to the United States unwillingness to treat a Depression as a Depression. Faith Based economics will not win the day here, we need direct, heavy handed, government intervention to put the nation back on track, and all the hubris, and arrogance of wealth and power will not will a Depression to end.

If the goal is loss of stature, and social instability for the United States, we are well on the way ... this prolonged epidemic of unemployment, both here and abroad, is ample kindling to stoke a flame of global upheaval.

LIBOR Scandal Broken Down By MSNBC's Chris Hayes

This is really a story of the quality of humanity more than anything else. Base human beings, whatever their economic or social stature, will be attracted to opportunities with the least restraints that yield the most gain ... whether that is in the area of narcotics, prostitution, arms dealing, human trafficking, gambling, politics, banking or investing. The only way you prevent the id of base human beings from destroying economies and societies, and thereby ruining lives, is to build constraints into the fabric of the social contract that limit the damage that base human beings can cause and and punish them harshly when their infractions result in misery for others.

To avoid implementing such restraints on toxic behavior paves the way to Anarchy not Freedom.

Barclays Libor Scandal Puts Investment Bank Arm At Risk

This LIBOR scandal is bigger than Barclays. Matt Taibbi in Rolling Stone posted in a blog that an email shows that Barclay's was requested to manipulate LIBOR by White Hall, the British Government. Barclays got in trouble for actually responsibly reporting its ratings, because higher LIBOR ratings indicates the lack of confidence Banks have in one another. White Hall requested Barclay's lower its LIBOR ratings to be more in line with other Banks who where already manipulating the numbers. This LIBOR scandal is far more widespread than Barclay's, with banks in the Netherlands being investigated for manipulating their rating system, NIBOR. CNBC just announced that Duetche Bank is now under investigation for manipulation as well. It will reach US Banks too, just wait.

And the point of manipulating LIBOR? To make Banks that were viewed as insolvent within their own industry appear solvent.

This is a very, very big story. Could very well be the Fukushima of the Global Financial Crisis.

June Jobs Report: U.S. Adds 80,000 Jobs; Unemployment Rate Unchanged

Until we address the Depression that Wall Street and Republican Fiscal Policies put us in in 2008, when George W Bush was President, and stop pretending that we aren't in a Depression, in order to protect Wall Street and the politicians who front for it in both parties, the unemployment numbers simply won't improve, for there is absolutely no reason for them to.

We see over and over again, that the longer we reward Wall Street and the Banking Sector for crippling the global economy the more they will cripple the global economy. It's not rocket science, we've been here before in the 1930s. The difference is that in the 1930s the politicians weren't terrified of confronting Wall Street and the Banks the way they are today.

We've been here before, and FDR addressed the matter appropriately. Despite the financial sectors considerable disinformation campaign against FDR, he did, in fact, get us out of the Great Depression and set us on a course of prosperity that lasted until Reagan became President and threw it all in the trash can.

And let me be clear about one thing here, if you were a child when President Reagan was in the White House, or you were born after, you are not qualified to comment on the US economy prior to that time ... those who lived in the US prior to Reagan's Presidency, are.

Pennsylvania Voter ID Law Threatens To Disenfranchise Nearly 10 Percent Of State's Voters

Rep. Bill Young Answers Minimum Wage Question: 'Get A Job'

The minimum wage argument is where Republicans consistently show their ignorance on economics. Minimum wage workers put their earnings back into the local economy, creating profit for business and giving business a reason for creating new jobs. The real "job creators" in the United States economy are the wage earners who spend their hard earned money in the local economy.

The Republicans love that petty catch phrase, "Get a Job", but if they were serious about improving the economy, and creating more jobs to be gotten, they would be all for raising the minimum wage.

Thomas Jefferson, Our Least Christian President

David Barton sports a cowardly, and craven intellect. There is nothing easier to do than re-imagine the intentions of the long dead, for the dead are not available to defend their positions.

And to think that the Founding Fathers, including Jefferson, were actually Orthodox Christians, but that that fact has been eradicated by Liberal Academics over the years, can be demonstrably proven false. The Founding Fathers were creating, on their own, a new nation from scratch. The Founding Fathers could have done anything they liked. What the Founding Fathers, Orthodox Christians though they might have been, did not do was explicitly declare the United States a "Christian Nation". In fact, they included a wall of separation between Church and State in the Constitution, but forget about that, even. It matters not how much tortured re-evaluation of the Founding Fathers intent for Religion in the United States of America was, the indisputable fact remains, the Founding Fathers did not explicitly declare the United States a "Christian Nation", nor design a Nation where Religion was explicitly the driving force of Government and Society, when they could have, and there was nothing that prevented then from doing so, Nothing.

Iraq, Afghanistan War Veterans Struggle With Combat Trauma

Constitutional Amendments are often brought up as ways to solve pressing issues in the United States, and from my perspective there is no more pressing issue that dealing with the spurious way the United States enters war. I think Veterans in Iraq and Afghanistan are victims of the ease with which the United States of America is capable of going to war without reason.

My Proposal for a War Amendment would contain as follows.

1) Every dispatch of Americans into hostility requires an Act of War from Congress.

2)The President has 60 days to address a direct attack, before an Act of War is required, and If the President does not honor the imposed 60 day limit for engagement it is grounds for impeachment.

3)If no Act of War is declared troops must be withdrawn, at the end of the 60 day period.

4) Upon Declaration of War the Draft is immediately implemented.

5)Upon Declaration of War a 15% tax is levied on American Citizens, and a 20% tax is levied on Business for the duration of the Conflict plus five years. 20% of levied War Taxes are dedicated to meeting the needs of Military Personnel, and Contractors returning from the Conflict.

There are other ways such a War Amendment could be enhanced that I have overlooked, I'm sure, but the baseline purpose is that every time America goes to War, every American should have skin in the game though the draft, taxation, and political pressure.

Keith Olbermann: Obamacare Ruling Gives Mitt Romney 'Two Insurmountable Problems' (VIDEO)

The reason Americans don't like ACA is because hundreds of millions of dollars have gone into a propaganda campaign framing ACA as a bad program. The AstroTurf Tea Party was even created by AHIP to attack ACA on a demented definition of Liberty and Freedom. Americans react to the information readily available to them, they don't reason things out by themselves. It is obvious that Americans don't understand ACA because of the propaganda campaign, because when polled on aspects of ACA independently they actually like the program. So the foundation of the American People disliking ACA was built on a contrived propaganda campaign by AHIP that inundated the mass media that Americans consume. That's it.

That said, Comprehensive Universal Single Payer Health Care is still vastly superior to ACA.
