Tampa Strip Club Offers Window Into Challenges Facing Both Parties
We need a political party who focuses on the needs of the poor, as well as the middle class (the Rich have one and a half parties looking out for their interests). Americans are Americans and they all deserve there voices heard ... even if they don't have two dimes to rub together.

Companies Desperately Fleeing Super-Low U.S. Tax Rates: Report
What we need is a Progressive United States Government that tells these fleeing companies if they want unimpeded access to the US Market for their goods and services then bring the jobs back home, otherwise ... let me introduce to my friend Mr Tariff.
Time to redefine "American Business" as a business domiciled in the United States using Americans as its source of labor ... otherwise you are a foreign business and whether you succeed or fail is irrelevant to the People of the US.
Time to end business's privilege of being pro American when it comes to sales, but anti American when it comes to labor.
The time is coming when business will be told it can no longer sit on the fence .... it is either pro American or it isn't and if it isn't ... bye bye.

Ben Bernanke's Jackson Hole Speech: More Stimulus Possible With Unemployment So High
The Fed can only do so much. The absolute best way to improve economic conditions in the US is to throw every Republican out of their seat in the House and the Senate in November, in addition to re-electing President Obama to the second term he has earned.
The United States' number one problem with the economy is the Benedict Arnold Republican Senators and Representatives who have been sabotaging it for the last four years.
We need to shrink the size of the Republican's influence on Congress so we can drown it in a bathtub.
And I'd suggest to anyone planning to vote Republican in November ... develop a taste for Cat Food.
We can't leave the future of the United States to raving old Republican white guys screaming at an empty chair, like Clint Eastwood, or the United States won't have a future.

Complete fiction, Jeb's beloved brother, combined with Republican Fiscal Policies implemented while the Republicans held the Congress from 1/1995 to 1/2007, caused the crash of 2008 that put the US, and the world into the Depression it is in now.

Mitch McConnell: Obama Would Require 'Epiphany' To Make Progress In A Second Term
Very interesting on a couple of points.

Sarah Palin's Fox News Contract May Not Be Renewed: NY Mag
I really think Fox "News" started cooling to Sarah Palin when the allegations in Joe McGinniss's book came out. The alleged affair Palin had with Glen Rice did not jive with her "Mama Grizzly" image from the Great White North. My guess is that Fox "News" did some independent research into the claims in McGinniss's book and decided it was time to pull the plug on her as a spokes-model for the Right Wing cause.

Media Calls Out Paul Ryan Acceptance Speech For Falsehoods
"I think these factual checks are really important," Gergen said. "But this was a speech about big ideas."
No, this speech was about the "Big Lie", Mr Gergen.
-The phrase was also used in a report prepared during the war by the United States Office of Strategic Services in describing Hitler's psychological profile:[5][6]
"His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.[7]"

CNN Camerawoman: Peanut-Throwing Incident At Republican Convention A 'Wake-Up Call'
The main problem with the South is that because Abraham Lincoln was humane to the Confederates after the war they never accepted the fact that they actually lost the war. After the Civil War states that seceded should have been provisionally allowed back into the Union with full acceptance being contingent on full integration of African Americans into their societies as equals. That didn't happen and we are still suffering from Abraham Lincoln's kindness now.
And when you consider that Lincoln was assassinated by Confederate Sympathizers you can see that turning the other cheek in terms of the Confederates didn't pay dividends for him either.

Awash In Secret Donations, Republicans Reverse Support For Campaign Finance Disclosure
How about this idea? Corporations and Individuals can donate all the money they want to a candidate ... unlimited ... but into a blind trust, so the candidate can never know from where the contributions came.
Hear me out on this.
The Donor's contribution would be aggregated into the Blind Trust anonymously, so the Candidate would have absolutely no way of verifying who contributed to their campaign and who didn't. Conversely, the Donor would be provided no proof that they have contributed money to a Candidate's Campaign. The contributed money would be sent to an intermediary clearing house assigned to all candidates, the donor can select the candidate the funds are to be distributed to, but the candidate receives all funds in monthly lumps sums comprised of ALL donations to their campaign, eliminating the ability to identify individual donations.
The Contribution Clearing House would be maintained by the Secret Service, who will maintain the information of who contributed and to whom.
If the Candidate and the Donor are found to have any direct communication that immediately disqualifies the candidate from running for office, and prohibits the contributor from donating to any election for 10 years.
Super PAC ad buys would be prohibited.
If the quid pro quo element of campaign contributions are removed from the political process then control of the elected officials would return to The People who elect them.

'2016: Obama's America' Fact-Check
D'Souza is a clown prince of Right Wing propaganda. You can't think in terms of facts when considering this piece of ... work, for disseminating facts was never the point of it.
Americans really have a difficulty comprehending or accepting the notion that they are constantly propagandized, and that the idea's they invite into their homes via the media, from warm and friendly newsreaders, don't have to be honest or true.
Americans are some of the most gullible humans on earth ... the "sucker born every minute."
My epiphany on the brazen nature of propaganda came to me when I read a WWII occupation newspaper from Manila in which the Japanese influenced editors were singing the song of triumph over how the valiant German Military pushed the hapless invading Allies into the sea.
The story was about D-Day.

Arianna On CNBC: Huffington Takes on the Jobs Deficit At The Republican Convention (VIDEO)
If the Bush Depression that began with the crash of 2008 was treated as a Depression from the onset with a WPA project many of those jobs would have morphed into permanent jobs for idle workers by now, provided needed opportunity for training for millions of Americans, and boosted our moribund economy. By downplaying the severity of the economic crisis we are in now in order to protect Banks, Wall Street and their fantasy based economic ideology we have prolonged the unemployment crisis and done harm to economic recovery. Both the Democrats and Republicans are to blame for the stagnation in getting the economy back on track, and Americans back to work, for too many of them are devotees of an economic theory that flat-lined in 2008, and refuse to pull the plug.
It doesn't matter how much money the rich have to manipulate narratives in the media or capture government agencies that are responsible for delivering candor on the US Economic situation. Just as a rich person can find a doctor willing to humor them that their stage four cancer isn't a big deal, that isn't the same thing as being cured of the disease.
The United States Government needs to treat the Depression we entered into in 2008 as a Depression or else the economy and unemployment crisis will drone on for years (perhaps decades) to come.

Robin Williams As Dwight D. Eisenhower In 'The Butler' (PHOTO)
Robin William's looks great as Ike.
I always think about how the US lucked out with Eisenhower, because he easily could have spent WWII as a POW in Japanese Prisoner Camp in the Philippines or Japan. Ike was part of MacArthur's staff in the Philippines when he was appointed Field Martial by Philippine Commonwealth President Manuel Quezon. Ike was tasked with making the antiquated War Plans Orange and Rainbow feasible if war should erupt in the Pacific. MacArthur was more interested in playing Shogun in his Penthouse at the Manila Hotel, then actually doing his job as Field Martial by building a functional Philippine Army, and preparing for war.
Eisenhower, and his partner Ord, were keeping each other sane under MacArthur's command. Unfortunately Ord was killed in a plane crash, and Ike, not wanting to deal with MacArthur anymore, requested a transfer back to Washington.
If it weren't for Ord dying, and Ike being fed up with MacArthur, Eisenhower may have been captured by the Japanese when Bataan fell ... then who knows how the war in Europe would have turned out.

Arthur Brisbane, New York Times Public Editor: Progressivism 'Bleeds Through' The Paper
If Brisbane wanted to work for a Right Wing propaganda rag, by working at the New York Times, he chose the wrong place, a sad commentary on his own perceptions. That said, as a Progressive, I've never viewed the New York times as anything but centrist.
One other thing, the type of America that the Right Wingers want to create can not afford alternate narratives to their own, for they know that facts don't support their caustic ideological positions. This is the reason the Right has been doing all it can for the last thirty years to buy up all media and control the content it disseminates. If it weren't for the emergence of the Internet the Right would have commandeered the entire framework of the American media to the detriment of us all.
Let's be clear, the American Corporate Media is Conservative, and has always been Conservative, and when one piece of the Conservative Corporate Media accuses another Conservative media outlet of being Liberal or Progressive, it is only a device in which to move the narrative of the Corporate Media further to the Right.

Francois Hollande: In Greek Crisis, 'There's No Time To Lose'
What a disaster for Greece. The Greeks are going to see their assets sold off to the highest bidder. What a betrayal of their heritage. Greece should have bailed on the Euro and reverted to the Drachma. I have a sneaking suspicion that once the International Bankers strip Greece of its assets and distribute their islands amongst themselves as spoils of this economic war, Greece will be unceremoniously dumped from the Euro anyway and return to the Drachma in a far more diminished position. Then it will be Spain, Italy and Portugal's turn for the same treatment.
The only nation who got the response to this economic crisis right was Iceland.
The Greeks should have made a stand and bailed on the Euro when they had the chance, instead the figured they would stay in and try to find a way to leverage the situation to their benefit. They won't.

Julian Assange 'To Be Arrested Under All Circumstances,' Scotland Yard Doc Says
I wonder if the subtext of this whole Assange standoff is the contents of Insurance file widely distributed about the world just waiting for the encryption key to reveal its secrets. The United States and Britain are well aware of the contents and know the catastrophic damage it could cause to the global economy if released. As bad as the leak of the diplomatic cables were, that Insurance file could represent Armageddon to the markets, if what the files are rumored to contain are true. I think the Banking Community is leaning hard on the apprehension of Assange to try and find a way to prevent the encryption key from ever being distributed. This has nothing to do with the alleged rape charges in Sweden.
I also wonder what other information WikiLeaks has acquired from whistle-blowers since this Assange standoff began. It would be hard to believe that transfer of information has ever stopped.

Neil Armstrong Dead At Age 82

From the moment he blasted off to the moment he splashed down he could have bought the farm. What he accomplished no human being did before. Since the dawn of our species we regarded the moon from a distance, applying all sorts of mythology to it, while Neil Armstrong made a formal visit.
Truly a loss for his family, and those of us who marvel at his accomplishment, and were gifted with the ability to watch him step on the moon over our old tube based, RCA black and white TVs.
