Rizana Nafeek Beheaded: Sri Lankan Housemaid Executed In Saudi Arabia For Killing Infant

You need to understand that the wealthy Saudi's that employ domestic helpers from poor developing nations view those workers as property. The nations that provide these workers rely heavily on the remittances to prop up domestic economies that are perpetually anemic. The fear these poor nations have is that if they put up a vigorous defense of their overseas workers when they are ill treated they risk having their people expelled from the host country en mass, and restrictions on further contracts implemented. Understand, these workers from countries like The Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, etc. are completely exposed to abuse by their contract holders and have little recourse in the event abuse occurs. Girls that work as domestics suffer beatings at the hands of their sponsors, and some male contract sponsors view raping these poor girls as completely acceptable.

I hope this poor girl, Rizana, can rest in peace now .... and I, for one, am completely confident she was innocent of the crime she was beheaded for, regardless what the Saudi courts claim.
