Matthews is completely correct here. When I heard Beck's rant I was thinking how can Mathews be anti-Catholic when he frequently references his faith in context of this commentary? Beck is absurd.
And, bottom line, it is not anti-Mormon or anti-Catholic to cite bias against those religions that exist within many conservative Fundamentalist Christians. I often think how the anti-Hispanic sentiment amongst the religious right has as much to do with their religious alignment as their skin tone. The GOP has used religion as a wedge issue for over 30 years, and now they are in a pickle with having all of their frontrunners for the GOP nomination not being of the favored right wing religious alignment ... Fundamentalist Christian. Anyone who thinks that won't have negative ramifications for the GOP at the polls is deluding themselves.
