For all the supposed "genetic superiority" of American Whites, they are pretty easily played by the system. MHP is correct that Welfare has always been a program denigrated for gifting "black slackers", when the benefits have always been modest at best and the primary beneficiaries of the programs were poor Whites ... anyone remember the tragic pictures of the Okies during the depression? The Rich succeeded in getting Whites to harm Whites by playing on the cultivated racial animus against Blacks in American society, By framing Welfare as a Black program the Rich got the Whites to stab themselves in the back.
I understand the anger MHP feels about this sick dynamic in our country, for I have lived in areas like she has described ... The Western Addition and Mission District of San Francisco in the 80's and 90's wasn't Nob Hill by any stretch of the imagination. But if you really get down to it it is lower middle-class and poor Whites who should really feel enraged about the culling of Welfare, for it did irreparable harm to their more populace communities along with what minorities experienced, but they seem too dense to make the connection.
