Mitt Romney Condemns Chicago Teachers Union Over Strike

I stand with the teachers and their right to strike. The parents of Chicago should lean on Rahm and the city government to meet the teachers meager requests, or expect to take a lot of time off from work watching their kids. My guess in the long run it will cost the parents and businesses of Chicago more to make up for the teachers being out on strike than it would to just give them a fair contract to return.

And let's make one thing clear, the point of Unions is to give workers a voice where otherwise they have none. If the people of Chicago are inconvenienced, well that's the point. It is important to all of us who work for a living to remind the world we aren't to be taken for granted, and for this very reason we need more Unions not less. A worker is free, not the property of the employer to be abused. Unions give workers a voice. If Unions are eliminated then the next move for workers would be to form a Labor Party.
