Chris Matthews RNC Converge Criticized Over Outbursts
There is a difference between being a corporate propagandist and being a journalist. Mathews' political commentary was right inline with that of Samuel Clemens. Clemens was noted for shining a bright light on offensive aspects of America and its power structure. Clemens was run out of San Francisco by the San Francisco Police Department for biting commentary on their corruption and racism.
I will never criticize a journalist who decides to take the mantle of Samuel Clemens and make a principled stand on issues when their peers make more money ignoring them.
I think that CNN made the biggest face-plant of the week when it was scooped on the story of its own employee ... an African American Camerawoman at the Republican Convention ... being pelted by peanuts and called an "Animal" by white convention attendees, by David Schuster and Current TV (Well Done!). I mean, rather than being livid about the occurrence, Wolf Blitzer almost seemed apologetic in having to report on the story. That was the biggest fail of the week's coverage, in my opinion.
Chris Mathews did EXACTLY what a journalist who engages in commentary is supposed to do ... SAY WHAT HE FEELS, not what his bosses want him to feel.
Right on Chris!
One final note, though there are some exceptional American Journalists doing great work in the US, the MSM itself is generally a giant whorehouse of well paid meat puppets generously steeped in vanity and privilege .
