The US Intelligence Apparatus has been an open shop since Reagan signed EO12333 allowing the CIA to contract out to Private Sector Military and Intelligence Firms. In that climate, no one knows who has knowledge of what operations. Knowing that there is a revolving door between the CIA and the Private Sector .... it is literally impossible to know who knows what. Leaks in this environment can come from absolutely anywhere. It could easily be a US Government Intelligence employee causally sharing information with a colleague that migrated to the private sector.
