Nancy Pelosi: Video Games Are Not The Reason For Violence In America

The video game / Hollywood movie / rock music argument for gun violence doesn't hold water. Entertainment is possibly the United States most prominent export next to war. If media inspired gun violence then we would see the same phenomena the world over. A more sinister possibility is a rudimentary American character flaw, that reasons violence ... including murder by gun ... is the proper method for conflict resolution. Not sure how you fix that though.

Bill Clinton: Austerity Can't Solve Debt Problem (VIDEO)

Republicans have never cared about driving up the debt, so their new found attraction to austerity is just a con.

Let me tell you what I think is really going on. Take the USPS model ... sabotage to force change. In the USPS' case it is so the service can be privatized. I don't think the the main proponent of USPS privatization being Fed Ex is surprising, considering the founder of FedEx, Frederick W Smith, was a member of Skull and Bones like "W". If you connect the dots you can see how "W" did a favor for a fraternity brother by bankrupting the USPS, so his buddy could move in on it. We aren't supposed to notice these things, but we do.

The austerity game is about convincing the general public that the economy is so bad that the only thing that can be done to remedy the crisis is privatizing government assets, and parts of the commons.

If you think like a drunken, elitist frat boy on a panty raid you can see where these "wholesome" ideas emerge from.

The big boys are really counting on us being so dense we won't notice they are ripping us off with this Shock Doctrine ploy..

Rand Paul To Deliver Tea Party Response To Obama State Of The Union

Rand Paul will deliver the Tea Party response from a secret, underground bunker filled with tubs of peanut butter, cheese whiz in lead lined tubes, and crates of saltines ... there will be freshly tanned varmint skins curing behind him, the Senator will be crouching naked but for a loin cloth fashioned from the cover of "Atlas Shrugged" ... he will be smeared with skunk scented camo oils, and will be clutching an AR-15 with the face of Jesus ... strike that ... Ted Nugent ,,, etched into the stock.

Sigourney Weaver would be challenged to manifest such a righteous and menacing visage.

North Dakota Personhood Measure Passes State Senate

The right wing master plan is to turn American Women into property, rather than to allow them rights as full citizens, for if you cannot control your own body you are a slave by definition.

And no, a fetus is not a person unless the woman who carries it decides it is ... until a woman decides the fetus she carries is a "baby" it is just a parasite.

Furthermore, every time a man masturbates to orgasm he is engaging in genocide, so when do we see the legislation to accuse men of murder every time they pleasure themselves?

Karl Rove Is Done

"Deep-dyed conservatives have a right to ask the Roves of the world what the establishment GOPers have done to erase the debt, limit the reach of the federal government or enhance a libertarian view of the world. The answer, to the Rand Pauls of the world, is simple: nothing."

I think we need to be careful about how we classify political factions now. Rove and "deep-dyed conservatives" aren't "Conservatives." John Birchers have never been Conservatives, though they play the Orwell card by applying that term to themselves. What these individuals are are Reactionaries. Despite the Progressive and Liberal Trappings the controlling DLC/New Democrat faction of Democrats, in practice, are the Conservative Party. There is no way to look back over the policies of the last thirty years and honestly say anything else.

The Reactionaries of the Far Right are now control the Republican Party, and with the right wing billionaires behind them, we are going to have to wait until they do their damage to the US before the political dynamics of the US recalibrate to a more rational point.

'Good Guys With Guns' Will Not Stop Gun Massacres

Absolutely correct.

Additionally, what did the shooters at (for example) Columbine, Aurora, Newtown, the Sikh Temple, the Long Island Railway, the Golden Dragon Restaurant, and at the shootings of Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley, Long, JFK, RFK, King, Reagan have have in common that rendered the value of well-trained, well armed "Good Guys With Guns" worthless?

The element of surprise.

John Brennan Confirmation Hearing: Obama CIA Director Pick Faces Senate Intelligence Committee

I wonder if I met Brennan once. Years ago a former high school classmate of mine was speaking at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco. As youngsters we would commiserate on Star Trek and unrequited love ... my friend in high school, not Brennan. Anyway, my friend had hit the big time in the video game industry, having teamed up with a Russian Software Developer to bring a game to market. You may have a version of this game on your smartphone. The game was Tetris.

I thought I'd say "Hi" after all the years (remembering my bumping into my friend riding the bus to college with a box full of COBOL punch cards in the early 80's) when I saw that he was to appear at the San Francisco Commonwealth Club.

I bought a ticket.

In addition to being, basically, a video game magnate, my friend gravitated to the cloak-and-dagger world of the CIA. At the time of his speech he was setting up a CIA VC firm in Silicon Valley called In-Q-Tel, that was seeking innovations with intel possibilities. Anyway, at this venue, as I awaited entry to the room where the speech was to be given. A man came out of nowhere to speak with me. He probed why I was there ... "Uh, huh ... uh huh" ... then moved on.

Kind of looked like Brennan, in retrospect, but who knows?

Congress Ignores Jobs, Despite Americans Ranking Issue Their Top Priority

The Congress is trapped between a rock and a hard place, where fighting a battle over gun rights is more politically palatable than confronting core issues of the economy, like job creation and wealth inequality.

Let us be completely and unambiguously clear ... the Private Sector makes money by eliminating jobs, not creating them. The sadistic nature of the Stock Market rewards business for dumping employees on the street and punishes businesses for expanding its roster of employees. The reality we are trapped in is that if the Government does not create jobs, jobs will not be created. That's it. But, the Congress is hogtied because their Billionaire Patrons are little more than Economic Scientologists who have determined that the same government that empowered their aggregation of riches is incapable of creating jobs for the American people at large ... which is, of course, a lie.

In the meantime, it is better for our owned Congress to flounder about on Gun Control, Immigration, and Marriage Equality, and pretend the economic issues in the United States aren't even happening .... as Congress has since 2008.

Broad Powers Seen For Obama In Cyberstrikes - NYTimes.com

This is Waterloo.

Entering the arena of Active Cyber Warfare the US will find itself at parity with its enemy for the first time in 60 years. The United States, being a highly specialized society, has far more delicate and penetrable computer systems than its adversaries, so whether you are talking in terms of infrastructure, defense, finance, medical .... name it ... the United States is a target rich environment.

Add to the equation that globalism has resulted in many US Corporations relocating data centers, and other critical IT resources abroad and the exposure to Cyber attacks or retaliation is multiplied.

The US is really tempting fate here.

S&P To Face Charges From States, U.S. Over Wrongdoing Before Financial Crisis: Report

With the Feds looking the other way on pretty much all malfeasance Wall Street and the Financial sector has engaged in since 2001, I am confident these charges are payback for the downgrade of the US Credit Rating by S&P. I knew they weren't going tp skate on such a damaging move, and with more economic brinksmanship from the Republicans down the road, it is difficult to see this as anything but a shot across the bow of the ratings agencies.

You simply don't mess with the full faith and credit of the US, and walk away unscathed. No way.

Super Bowl Power Outage: Lights Go Out At Superdome During Ravens-49ers Super Bowl

Not sure if this was brought up, but the rebuilding of New Orleans was modeled on Disaster Capitalism. Public/Private partnerships that went into rebuilding New Orleans, which translates as the Government opens a revenue vein, the private sector fills its personal blood money bank with it, and then delivers to the people of New Orleans a stadium that goes dark during the Super Bowl for all the world to see.
