Sandra Day O'Connor Doubts Decision To Take Bush v. Gore
The outcome of Bush v. Gore was a simple case of quid pro quo, for the five Supreme Court Justices that voted to appoint George W Bush President of the United States all owed their seats to the Reagan/Bush Administrations. The only outlier was Justice Souter, who actually approached the decision as a Jurist rather than a henchman.
Had Justice Thomas done the honorable thing, he would have recused himself from the decision on the basis he owed his seat on the high court, most directly, to George HW Bush, the appointed President's father.
