Honestly, the economy is nothing but a fraud at this point. When it crashes ... and it will BIG TIME ... those H1B visas will be worthless because there will be no reason for skilled workers to want to immigrate here. H1B visas are a symptom of the problem, not the problem in itself. The problem is that the Rich, through their Corporations, own the entire US political system. The United States, like the Soviet Union, is a one party state. In the USSR it was Communist, in the US it is Corporatist.
Why would a skilled worker want to accept an HiB visa to work in the broken outhouse Corporatism has turned the United States of America into? I've worked with folks on H1B visas, believe me they aren't stupid. I can't think of a single one who didn't miss home when they figured out what the USA was really about. The USA is a paradise for undocumented workers willing to live in the shadows to feed their families back home, but it is a step down for those who have skills. Maybe not in the 1990s, but now? Definitely.
Theodore Roosevelt, THE Progressive, addressed The People's needs in a beneficial way no other President was willing to, because he believed the little people of America were just as important as the big people. The principles he operated under are just as meaningful, and crucial to implement today as they were in the Progressive Era he inspired.
