Why? Because wait times and background checks would blow the lid off the illegal gun trade US Gun Manufacturers profit mightily from due to our lax gun laws. That's why. Every gun that is shipped in bulk from the United States to warlords and drug lords around the world has to be bought somewhere. Lax gun laws provide plausible deniabilty to the US Gun Manufacturers in this profit making endeavor. That's why we can't have reasonable background checks and wait times.
