I expect nothing noble from our elected officials for they are owned by their patrons who finance their campaigns. In the United States the power resides with those funding the candidates re-election, not the elected official themselves. It is all about quid pro quo. There are a few exceptions to this, but most Senators and Congresspersons are just conduits of villainy for their Financiers. Due to misplaced trust the American people have all but forfeited their democracy.
