Elizabeth Warren-Scott Brown Debate Focuses On The Personal

I know that the Right is holding out hope that Warren invoking departing Richard Lugar as a Republican Senator that she would be capable of working with, should she be elected Senator, has some traction in framing her as a Senator that wouldn't collaborate well with Republicans, but I think there is an opening for Elizabeth here to pivot off this comment. Warren could simply say that the Republicans have been busily purging Senators from their side that are willing to work with Democrats, and that, as Senator, she would be willing to work with anyone who's reasonable and presenting ideas that will benefit the American people.

The strategy of the Republicans in the Senate has been to obstruct everything with the filibuster, so Gregory actually presented a trick question to Warren, for if the Republicans refuse to legislate, as has been the case since President Obama was inaugurated, then it doesn't matter what Republican Senator Warren was willing to work with, it would all be for naught anyway.

Warren should say the truth, that she has always been willing to work with reasonable people, whatever their party affiliation, and that is how she would continue to work as a Senator.
