Talk about leaping into the briar patch. I remember when Big Bird first appeared on Television. It was 1969, I was seven years old. Most Americans first friends on earth were Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Ernie and Bert, Oscar the Grouch, Mr Hooper, Susan, Bob, Gordon and the other neighbors on Sesame Street. I remember my sister, now a teacher in her 40's, was a big fan of Mr. Snuffleupagus.
What Mitt Romney, lost in his corporate nonsense, doesn't understand is that Sesame Street and it's resident holds a tender place in the hearts of millions of Americans under the age of 50 ... my guess is there are a few voters in that block.
Romney doesn't get it, but he might have well said he was going to lower the deficit by selling the Statue of Liberty for scrap.
