The 1st Amendment is not the "Journalists Amendment". The 1st Amendment guarantees free speech protection to ALL Americans. To say that there is a protected sub class of Americans that the 1st Amendment exists for ... journalists ... is not an honest reading of the Constitution.
Now listen, I understand why Senators Durbin and Graham are concerned with bloggers ... it makes perfect sense ... they are owned by wealthy corporations and individuals who have spent a fortune gaining control of the media so that they can control the narrative in the country. Bloggers, commenters, tweeters ... what have you ... have blown the doors off media control, and information dissemination, and the individuals and entities, that Senators of both parties rely on to keep them in their seats, are unhappy that competing information and narratives are fouling their aspirations.
